Interview w/Doap Nixon (Army Of The Pharaohs/QD)
By: Justin Rizzio
Remember when Lupe Fiasco got co-signed by Kanye and then he blew the f#ck up? Well, the same thing happened to Doap Nixon. Actually, no, it didn’t. It went more like this… In 2000, Doap Nixon appeared with Vinnie Paz (Jedi Mind Tricks) on “Language is Fatal”, the b-side off of Vinnie’s solo 12″. After that, he worked with a few other local artists and then…nothing. He vanished. Until now. In 2007, Doap Nixon was featured on the latest Army Of The Pharoahs album; this time, not as a guest, but as a member. Now, as hip hop heads all over Philly say things like, “I remember him” or “I knew he’d be back”, Doap is now ready to claim what should have been his a long time ago. myspace.com/doapnixon

Interview w/Poesh Wonder
By: Justin Weleski
Coming up in one of the most dangerous cities in the country ain’t easy. And it doesn’t help when you also live across the river from yet another of the nation’s top dangerous cities. But instead of rhyming about the past and overused topics of violence; Poesh takes a much more mature approach and gives us his life experience as he sees it in the present. Everything from the women to the culture, Poesh delivers it all…top notch. We got a chance to catch up with him after his album release party that happened at The Zodiac (which goes down every 3rd Friday of the month at Medusa Lounge.)

Wordplay W/Scanz
By: Deesha Dyer
I can still say Happy New Year right? Well, Happy New Year then and welcome to the first official Wordplay in 2008 (Illit’s was done in 2007). The first person up is MC Scanz, whose album, ‘Prelude to a Legacy’ was released recently on Rawkus Records. I really knew nothing about dude, except I do remember liking one of his songs posted here awhile back. So, this was kinda a good introduction to what some call ‘the hottest new MC in Philly’. We’ll see about all that, but in the meantime, enjoy his Wordplay and look for more to come! Remember if you have questions, suggestions or want to be featured…let me know!
