Yesterday’s activities consisted of shopping for gifts for our friends and families, eating a bunch of good food, and visiting the hoods of Soweto. It’s always an honor to get to travel and see distant lands but to be able to visit the urban areas and really connect with the people face to face is something that brings us a whole different level of fulfillment. There was a hip hop festival happening in Soweto called Street Pop which consists of performances and DJs playing all day. We went through for about an hour or so to meet some folks there and see more the hip hop scene here. It was cool but kind of early so the place was just starting to fill in. The folks that were there were really excited that we made it and wanted to get pictures and CDs signed which was cool. It became a little overwhelming after a while though because so many started surrounding us asking for different things.
Kenzhero and friends then took us to another part of Soweto which is the equivalent to West Philly (the black parts). There was another jam happening there was outdoors and more elaborate. In fact, it seemed to be just like the B-Boy BBQ in Philly. At least, that was my take from what I could see from the outside. Ken and the rest of our hosts here checked it out and didn’t want to take us in because they felt the crowd might get to excited and mob us since it isn’t often that established American artists visit the neighborhoods. We didn’t mind. We wanted to go in and record footage for the DVD project we’re working on but they insisted that it wasn’t a good look and started telling us stories about different guests getting robbed in Soweto trying to check out the scene. We kept it moving and went to another hood where they were doing an art exhibition. Me and Kenzhero did a 2 hour set which consisted mainly of the classic Rawkus records from about 10 years ago. It’s insane to see how much love artists like Company Flow and Doom have out here. The crowd literally jumps up and down when one of those joints comes on. I love it. The folks there were real happy that we came out and wanted to take as many photos as possible and wanted things signed. No one expected us to show up so they didn’t have CDs or records to sign. Only T-shirts or graf books. It was such an honor to be able to hang out in the element. Not just the tourist spots that most people from our country would get a chance to see. We are fortunate to be connected with people who know what time it is out here. Well today, more interviews, drops, and shopping. Let me get outta here.

Ever meet someone who makes no sense and the most sense all in the same sentence? Well, meet C-Rayz Walz. Walz is a veteran battle MC who has been making his presence in hip hop known since the late 90’s. He started out with his crew, Stronghold, then moved on and more recently has been dropping albums on labels like Def Jux and Babygrande. (Fun fact: C-Rayz went to high school with Mobb Deep ). In 2005, Rayz also appeared on MTV’s Made, helping a young white kid how to live his dream of being a battle rapper. Now, with no record label to call home, this Bronx bred MC continues to put out quality material and refuses to give up his legendary status.

a day late. we had a 12 hr flight home, so here it goes:
In Dortmund, for food, Reef bought a chicken to grub on for the night with some bread, somehow, someway, this chicken , “Eddie” was still with us before our trip to Denmark, thru 4 flights. For some reason Reef believed this chicken non- refridgerated would still be good after a couple days, so he chose for it to be his carry-on. we refused to let him eat it, and we had to put it to rest, cause he was ready to fly to Denmark with it. ….. hahahahahaha ,we have provided a picture of the late Edward.So Denmark was only and hr and a half flight. Very easy , got to the telly and everyone slept til soundcheck cuz we basically went straight to the airport after Helsinki. Soundcheck was great , the promoters were great , they had a beautiful spread of food, liks, drinks, anything u can think of. im assuming the venue was very new because this place was immaculate. we basically chilled, and celebrated the tour , had a great time, which was a relief for the end of the trip. Good crowd, dope show, and great fans. THANK GOD! To top it off, after the show they reserved a booth for us, V.I.P status at a club in the basement we didnt realize was there. We had a 6am flight, so we basically partied til the last possible minute. SO, needless to say , this was a wonderful way to end the tour, despite the death of Eddie, sorry Reef!
