Caliph-NOW is best known as the producer behind Viro the Virus as well as 420. Coming straight outta Jersey, Caliph-NOW is a hard working man not only doing the producer duties, but also moonlighting as a DJ at times and working several jobs. Another thing that stands out about him is how supportive he is of local underground hip-hop. You can always catch him at shows nodding his head and standing in the front giving props to whoever is on stage. As he continues to hustle promoting Viro’s Jersey’s Finest, I got to him to just bust it up. Enjoy!

1. Can you cook?
- Yes! Signiture Dish: Blackened Sea Bass w/ Dijon & Jumbo Lump
Crabmeat..Favorite Spice: Dillweed (put it on everything)

2. Ever get smacked in the face by a girl?
- No. But was kneed in the junk in the 4th grade.

3. Do you think the 5 Spot burning down was a for real accident or suspect?
- Unfortunately..the evidence of conspiracy outweighs the evidence of
accident…Hopefully it is rebuilt and is open to hiphop culture once again

4. Can you play any musical instruments?
- If you consider turntables and beat machines as instruments…I would like to think so..I can play drums, but I am not a drummer..I can also play bass, but I am not a bassist.

5. Do you attend church?
- Organized Religioius churches..NO…but I do meditate.

6. Did you have a fake ID growing up?
- For those of you who have seen my older brother..there was no reason to have an official fake ID..I usually tell people we are twins..my mom was in labor for 3 1/2 years before I popped out.

7. Do you think you will be making beats at 60? for real?
- Not only will I still be making beats at 60…I will still wear my hat backwards and say things like cowabunga and Rad.

8. Do you usually tip over, under, or standard?
- I have worked in restaurants since I was 14..so I appreciate and recognize good service..Ill never tip under unless the server is blantantly rude

9. How many weddings have you been in?
- 2..I think..my older sister Tara was married like three years ago..I also remember when I was 5, I was a ringbearer..when it was completely silent..I asked the priest why people ate God.

10. If your girl messed around with your brother, would you forgive her?
- First, I would give my bro a high five, while simultaneously punching him in the gut..thanking him for showing me her true identity…then, I would kick that bitch to the curb..hard!

11. Big Pun or Biggie?
- Very tough choice..huge Pun fan..but B.I.G. is Notorious

12. Strangest venue you’ve been in?
- Some would say Ulana’s..especially since there are always strange men in suits speaking Russian hanging around, and there is an official sign
upstairs that have rules on them such as “No exposed nipples” and “No
bleeding”…But the alltime strangest venue I’ve been in was in DC when I attended the Tibetan Freedom concert..we ended up in an S&M club..lost my brother..only to find him later in the evening on stage being whipped by a dominatrix

13. Why don’t you ever smile in pictures?
- I rarely smile in pictures…as a matter of fact I can’t help but make funny faces..if relatives hundreds of years from now see pictures of my family/friends..they would think I’m retarded.

14. Favorite non-chocolate candy?
- Skittles (orange, yellow, green)

15. George Sr. or George Jr. (Bush)?
- If I have to choose..George Sr. (for political reasons, I guess)..George Jr. (for comedic reasons)

16. Are you the type to the the Dr. right away or wait until the problem becomes unbearable?
- No Health Insurance!!

17. Worst quality?
- Honestly..I am shy around those I do not know very well..and am most
comfortable when I am alone..OH..and music always comes first..very hard on relationships.

18. If you had to pick one to return from the dead, who would it be James Brown, John Lennon, Tupac?
- James Brown!! I’ve never seen him live..recently had a chance..the girl I was dating bought tickets to see him..but she did not know who he was..she said “Oh..thats that old guy, right?”…Well, besides that comment and the fact that she went psycho on me the night before..never made it to the show..nor saw the girl again.

19. What song would blast at your funeral?
- “Walkin on sunshine” (Katrina and the Waves) or “Dead Man’s Party” (Oingo Boingo)

20. How many jobs do you hold down?
- Three..Music; Restaurant Biz; Substitute Teacher (have a certification to teach History)
