Cool, calm and collected is how Viro the Virus always appears - even on stage. Alongside producer, Caliph-NOW, Viro released his second album, Jersey’s Finest in February. He has a good chunk of guest collabo’s including Slim DSM and Reef the Lost Cauze, as well as producer credits from Stress, Eyego/Direct, and Decypher. Many count him as one of the premier MC’s to come out of Jersey in the last few years using his intelligent rhymes and storytelling as prime examples of where he gets that title. Because he works so much and lives on the other side of the river, there isn’t much time to kick it with him, except for events here and there, so I thought it’d be good to catch up with him. And that Serena and Venus question has to do with him claiming his love for Serena on the booklet of his first album, Future Trauma. I wonder if she ever responded? Anyway…enjoy!

1. Do you wash your hands after you go to the bathroom at home?
Cleanliness is next to Godliness

2. Favorite type of potato chips?
Toss up between sour cream and cheddar cheese Lays and harvest cheddar Sun Chips

3. Ever get a girl’s number at the Gallery?
Who hasn’t?

4. Phillies or Dutchies (this question was courtesy of Reef)?
Strawberry Phillies on the dolo & Dutchies a cypher. But I actually smoke more doobies than anything; Cheech and Chong size Job 1.5’s to the face.

5. Do you keep your money in a bank, credit union or none?
I don’t have any money.

6. How many illegal drugs have you tried?
How many illegal drugs are there?

7. Did you ever get suspended from school?
I couldn’t go to my junior or senior prom or walk at graduation cuz of too many suspensions. I didn’t go to High School, I went to school high.

8. Old City, Center City or South Street?
Though I love all 3, I have to go with South St. cuz of all the eye candy in the summer. “Daisy dukes and tennis skirts, open-toe shoes and barely there shirts.” Its a beautiful thing.

9. How tall are you?
An inch shorter than Michael Jordan

10. Do you think Britney’s shaved head is sexy?
Her head does nothing for me, but that pic of the other thing she shaved was scrumptious.

11. Brew of liquor (again courtesy of Reef)?
Both

12. Serena or Venus (HA!)?
Both. Nah, as a connoisseur of big booties, I gotta say Serena all day.

13. Furthest you’ve been from home?
Nebraska or Florida, which ever one is farthest.

14. Ever know anyone with HIV/AIDS?
Not that I know of.

15. Do you give homeless people money when they ask?
It all depends. My mood at the time, the amount of money I have, the vibe I get from the person asking; they all factor in. So sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t.

16. If you got a bad haircut, would you pay for it?
I don’t have to worry about that cuz I’ve been going to the sharpest blade in the tri-state area for the last 10 years and he hasn’t messed me up yet. Big up to Kirby!

17. Can you play any musical instruments?
I’m the only person in my family who can’t.

18. Would you rather date an underweight chic or overweight chic?
Overweight (more cushion for the pushin’) but I don’t discriminate.

19. Why don’t you ever smile in pictures?
Same answer as 15

20. Ever worked at a fast food joint? If so, which one?
I’ve had a few jobs around food like a cashier at Pathmark and Sam’s Club, a brief stint as a pot washer at Pufferbelly, and a food service worker in a hospital cafeteria, but never fast food. I’ve heard too many horror stories from friends who slaved at McDonald’s and KFC.
